The deck is stacked against growing fruit-bearing avocado trees here: Admit it: you've enjoyed that Hass avocado from the grocery store saved the pit suspended it on toothpicks over a glass of water then, planted it outside when that pit sprouted roots. And that love overrides the commons sense of intrepid area gardeners. Can you grow avocados in the Sacramento area? Maybe.
